PureLawn has treated lawns across the Dayton area as a local, family-owned company. Owner Matt Maurer runs our Dayton location out of our office at 7032 North Dixie Drive, and our technicians cover the city and the communities around it every week of the season. We feed the soil, not just the grass, and we spot treat weeds instead of blanket spraying the whole yard.

Lawn Care Services We Provide in Dayton

  • Organic-based lawn fertilization. Custom blended turf food with iron for dark green color, humates, and controlled release nutrients for steady growth.
  • Crabgrass prevention and spot weed control. We treat the weeds that are actually there instead of spraying the whole lawn.
  • Core aeration to open up compacted soil so water, air and feedings reach the roots.
  • Aeration and overseeding with drought tolerant grass seed. We aerate through October and like the soil around 60 degrees when we seed.
  • Grub and armyworm control using a grub control material that does not harm bees.
  • Additional services including mosquito, flea and tick control and perimeter pest control.

We do not mow and we do not install or service irrigation. Our work is lawn treatment.

Dayton Area Communities We Treat

Our Dayton crews run routes through the city and out to Union, Clayton, Moraine, Oakwood, Trotwood, Vandalia, Bellbrook, Englewood and Brookville. We also have dedicated pages for Kettering, Centerville and Beavercreek. Not sure if you are on a route? Call (937) 703-1221 and we will tell you straight.

Miami Valley Soil and What It Needs

A lot of Dayton lawns sit on clay-heavy soil that compacts easily and keeps roots shallow. In newer neighborhoods, construction and grading often stripped the topsoil and left compacted subsoil behind. Other yards around the river valley drain fast and dry out quickly. Two lawns on the same street can need different things.

That is why we build each program around the property instead of selling one package. Organic fertilizers add organic matter that improves soil structure over time, and core aeration relieves compaction so roots can grow deeper. Most turfgrass in the Dayton area does best with a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Our soil testing guide for Dayton lawns explains how to read a soil report.

Our Programs and What They Cost

PureLawn Bridge is five services a year: crabgrass prevention, five organic-based turf feedings, spot weed control and humates. It uses the least amount of pesticide we can by spot treating weeds instead of blanket spraying.

PureLawn PureGreen is five services a year and is 100% pesticide free: corn gluten meal, custom blended organic fertilizers, root and soil stimulation, and molasses that feeds the soil life. We suggest adding fall aeration and seeding each year to fill in bare areas and crowd out weeds.

Pricing is based on the square footage of your lawn. We give a free lawn analysis and quote, and we work out a program that fits your property, your expectations and your budget. See all lawn treatment programs.

Frequently Asked Questions From Dayton Homeowners

Can my kids and pets go on the lawn after a treatment?

On the PureGreen program, yes, right after we leave. It is 100% pesticide free. On the Bridge program we still apply a small amount of pesticide, so keep kids and pets off for at least 3 to 4 hours, and we recommend 24 hours to be safe.

Do your organic fertilizers smell?

No. We use no manures. Our fertilizers are made from food-grade ingredients and you will not notice a strong scent after an application.

What happens if something is not right between visits?

We come back. Service calls are free.

When is the best time to aerate in Dayton?

Fall. We aerate through October, and fall aeration sets up the best conditions for seeding. Read When to Aerate Your Lawn in Ohio.

Do you mow?

No. PureLawn does not mow lawns or service irrigation systems. We focus on lawn treatment.
